Scott Bethel: A New Face in Property Management

Jul 15, 2025

As a former military officer, I never thought I would find myself in the world of property management. However, after retiring from the service, I decided to take on a new challenge and apply my leadership, care for people, and grit to the world of short-term property management. Though I may be new to the game, I have already learned how to grow this business and integrate difficult and diverse projects with many moving parts. In this article, I will share how I have adapted my existing skillset to the world of property management and created comprehensive plans by national region to create successful short-term real estate property groups.

Military Leadership Skills Applied to Real Estate Management

As a former military officer, I have extensive experience in leadership and managing teams. In the military, leadership is not just about giving orders, but about inspiring and motivating your team to achieve a common goal. This skillset has proven to be extremely valuable in the world of real estate management. One of the biggest challenges in managing short-term rental properties is ensuring that everyone is working towards the same goal and that each team member understands how their role contributes to the overall success of the project.

To achieve this, I have implemented a clear system of communication and delegation. Each team member has a specific role and is aware of how their work impacts the overall success of the project. This ensures that everyone is working towards the same goal and that there is no confusion or duplication of effort. Additionally, I have created a culture of accountability and ownership, where everyone takes pride in their work and takes responsibility for their actions.

Customer Service is Key

In any business, customer service is key. In the world of short-term property management, it is even more crucial. Guests who stay in short-term rental properties expect a high level of service and attention to detail. As a former military officer, I have a deep understanding of the importance of customer service and how to provide it effectively.

To ensure that our guests have the best possible experience, we have implemented a system of communication that is responsive and personalized. From the moment a guest books a property, we provide them with detailed information about the property and the surrounding area. We also have a dedicated team of customer service representatives who are available 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns that guests may have during their stay.

Comprehensive Plans by National Region

Another key to success in the world of short-term property management is having a comprehensive plan that takes into account the unique characteristics of each region. As someone who has lived and worked in different parts of the country, I understand how important it is to tailor your approach to the specific needs of each region.

To achieve this, we have developed comprehensive plans for each national region that take into account factors such as local regulations, market conditions, and the unique characteristics of the local community. By doing so, we are able to create successful short-term real estate property groups that are tailored to the needs of each specific region.

Conclusion

Though I may be new to the world of property management, I have already learned how to apply my existing skillset to this new market. My military leadership skills have proven to be extremely valuable in managing teams and integrating difficult and diverse projects. Additionally, my focus on customer service and comprehensive planning has allowed us to create successful short-term real estate property groups that are tailored to the specific needs of each region.
